Word of The Week: Service

“service” in the context of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense encompasses the dedication to teaching and mentoring students, contributing to the community, enhancing personal development, ensuring safety and security, preserving the art, and promoting sportsmanship and competition.

Weekly Breakdown – Week 16

Tiny Champions (Ages 3-4) & Little Champions 1 (Ages 5-6):

Self-Defense Technique: Front Break Falls

Ground Technique: Mount Escapes

Stand-Up Technique: Double Leg Takedown With Grips


Little Champions 2 (Ages 7-9) & Juniors (Ages 7-9):

Self-Defense Technique: Front Break Falls

Ground Technique: Mount Escapes

Stand-Up Technique: Double Leg Takedown With Grips


Adults & Teens Fundamentals Class:

Class A:

Self-Defense Technique: Front Bear Hug Escape

Ground Techniques: Mount Escape

  1. Trap & Roll Method:
    • Fundamental escape from bottom mount position.
  2. Guard Recovery:
    • Recover the closed guard as a variation of mount escape.

Class B:

Self-Defense Technique: Rear Bear Hug Escape

Ground Techniques: Mount Escape

  1. Transition Escape:
    • Escape from mount position when the opponent transitions from side control or knee on belly.
  2. Knee on Belly Escape:
    • Escape from knee on belly by recovering the guard.
