🥋Week 14 Breakdown!🥋

Welcome to Gracie Barra Saddle Rock for the Weekly Breakdown For Week 14! We ALMOST done with out next cycle of the Gracie Barra Fundamentals Curriculum!

Word of The Week: Humility

Word of the week is humility. Humility is crucial in jiu-jitsu because it fosters continuous learning and growth. This martial art requires acknowledging one’s limitations and mistakes to improve skills and techniques effectively. Humble practitioners are more open to feedback and willing to learn from others, regardless of their rank or experience level. This mindset not only enhances personal development but also builds a supportive and respectful training environment, essential for the safety and progression of all participants.

Tiny Champions (3-4 years old) and Little Champions 1

Class A: Our youngest warriors will focus on escaping a standing headlock. This essential self-defense technique helps them understand the importance of situational awareness and quick response.

Class B: They will learn the grappler stance and good posture. Developing these foundational skills early is crucial for their balance and coordination.

Ground Technique: Throughout the week, they will work on recovering top side control from bottom side control. This teaches them how to maintain control and leverage on the ground.

Little Champions 2 and Juniors

Class A: Just like our Tiny Champions, these students will also focus on escaping standing headlocks, building their self-defense repertoire.

Class B: They will learn how to pull to the closed guard, a fundamental guard position that offers both defensive and offensive opportunities.

Ground Technique: Professor will guide them through escaping bottom side control, a critical skill for gaining a more advantageous position during ground combat.

Fundamentals Class

Class A: Adults will work on self-defense techniques, including escaping from a ground headlock to turtle position, inversion, technical mount, and finishing with an armbar. On the ground, we’ll focus on escaping side control to recovering half guard, followed by a sweep using the underhook and controlling the opponent’s foot.

Class B: The focus will be on headlock escapes, transitioning to a bridge, technical mount, and finishing with an armbar. For ground techniques, we’ll work on escaping side control, anticipating the guard pass, controlling the elbow, and recovering guard.

All Levels Class and Advanced

Class Focus: This week, we’ll be working on hip/hand throws and a ground technique chosen by the professor. All sessions will end with specific training and drills to solidify the techniques learned.

We look forward to seeing you on the mats and helping you develop both your physical and mental strength through jiu-jitsu. Let’s make this week a great one!

See you at the academy!
