It’s Week 9 of the Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals Curriculum. This week we are working on blocking strikes from the turtle position, recovering the guard and working from the bottom guard position.
In the Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals program our self-defense techniques for the week focus on defending strikes from the turtle position and how to recover the guard to prevent further strikes and create distance. On the ground we are working on bottom guard, and we will focus on two sweeps and two submissions.
In the advanced classes, professors will show their choice of transitions to the guard as well as sacrifice throws. From bottom guard advanced classes will work on X guard with sweep variations.
Our Gracie Barra Kids Program is always about jiu-jitsu fundamentals. For the self-defense techniques, we will focus on an over-the-arms front bear hug escape with a hip throw and the basics of Judo grips and getting your opponent off balance.
We look forward to seeing you on the mats!
